Today when I got home, an email was waiting; telling me a campaign of mine is being considered for the Graphis New Talent Annual. I had to fill out an accompanying form and send it back by March 5th. So I sent it and received this:
“I will be out of the office on vacation from Monday, March 5 to Thursday, March 8 with only very sporadic access to email. Please contact…”
So apparently the only window of opportunity was between 5:30 and 7 o’clock? How are they even going to receive my (or anyone else’s?) form? Am I being to neurotic about this?

Thanks! Who knows if they’ll get it but, I guess it’s a =n honor just t be nominated?
I started school as a Graphic Designer, then also decided to get into Art Direction. I tended to take an immediate writing position when I partnered in class, and came up with some really great lines when my art direction was - fine. I really love design/ad, but I think I’m a bit too…
You will hear some version of this many times in your career. Sorry.

In my experience the design department of an agency looks at much of the same things a design firm looks for, especially your ability to adapt to different design styles (as you often works on 2+ accounts with varying styles.) Pieces that show of communication skills/problem solving/story telling.
Photoshop skills are a HUGE plus (lots of retouching and post-production work) and I think a working knowledge of typography is good to show as well.
Transcript of process book and usage soon.
you’ve come a long way baby (thesis)
